Set up a quiet base room
A small, quiet room with food, water, a litter box, a bed and a few toys gives your kitten a safe space to settle before exploring the rest of the home.
Essentials to have ready
- A sturdy carrier suitable for a large breed
- A generously sized litter box and the litter your kitten is used to
- The same food your kitten has been eating, to avoid tummy upsets
- A tall, stable scratching post
- A wide-toothed comb and nail clippers
- Interactive toys for daily play
Kitten-proof your home
Secure cords, blinds and small objects, check that houseplants are safe for cats, and make sure windows and balconies are secure.
Book a veterinary visit
Arrange a check-up with your veterinarian soon after homecoming so your kitten’s ongoing care can continue smoothly.
